Goatherds

This game was made for Secret Santa Jam 2024.

Goatherds is a digital board game for 1-4 players (local multiplayer only).
Lead your goatherds and collect goats while hindering your opponents' progress.

There is a very basic AI you can play against.
This game can be played with mouse only.
Press "F" to switch between fullscreen and window.
Press "ALT" to take a screenshot (YourUser\AppData\Local\SecretSanta).

How to play the game

The game starts with randomly picking the first player. This player then places their Goatherd on the board. Other players take turns placing their Goatherds too.
When every Goatherd is on board, players (starting with the randomly picked one) move their Goatherds in turns, collecting Goats. After every player finishes their turn, a round ends. Goats then randomly move and may breed, creating more Goats.

What can I do during my turn?

You can take actions in any order you like, as long as it's your turn.
The most important thing is to move your Goatherd in order to collect Goats.
If you have any Goats on your mat you can place them on the Market above. This allows you to purchase Action Tokens.
If you leave any Goats in the Market and end your turn, those Goats will disappear giving you a point for each one. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins.
You can purchase max 2 Action Tokens per turn.
You can use max 2 Action Tokens per turn (but only 1 per type).

Action Tokens

Bucket of Milk
Place it on any empty tile to lure the cat. The cat will place one of its paws on that tile, blocking it from any movement. The cat has only four paws, which means only four tiles can be blocked at any moment.

Caffè Latte
Place it on your Goatherd to give them an energy boost. Your Goatherd can move one additional tile this turn.

Goat Bell
Place it on any tile. Next time the Goats move, they will try to move towards (or onto) that tile. Watch out for other players' bells, because they can override yours if they have their turns after you.

Ball of Yarn
Place it on any tile with Goats to collect 1-3 Goats from it.

Coyote
Place it on any tile with Goats to scare them. The Goats will scatter to random tiles.
